Main Character

Eva is the main protagonist. Awarini is the side character.


Characters arc

Eva begins the story as cocky with a sense of grandeur, that her skill is superior than that of all her classmates and even her master. Awarini her master give her a reality check by brutally defeating her and berating Eva for her inflated ego telling her that if she must take her training seriously as if she was to confront  a demon she would surely be killed. Eva has never seen her master act like this before which makes her take things a little seriously.


Conflict

Character  vs Character - The physical conflict in the story is the fight between Eva and Awarini. As Eva tries to prove herself as an equal to her master.

Character vs Self - Eva must fight against her ego and overcome it to become more humble.


Step Outline

Scene 1- EXT - FOREST - MORNING

EVA leans against a tree, snoring instead of prepping her gear for training. The sound of movement can be heard in the distance, AWARINI appears into the clearing, seeing Eva sleeping she lets out a disgruntled groan and gently whacks her on the head with her sheathed sword. Eva lets out a yelp and gets into a battle stance thinking she's being attacked. Awarini responds to Eva's outburst "You'd already be dead if a demon attacked, Eva you need to be alert, before the demon kills you, and have you even prepped your gear?" Eva responds "YESS I have, I was just catching up on my sleep, besides I don't think I need anymore training, you know I'm ready to do some fieldwork right?". Awarini looks at Eva confused and mocks Eva "No demon hunter sleeps during fieldwork, especially when we aren't in protected grounds, you a far from ready" Awarini chuckles, annoyed Eva responds "I am ready an-and I'll prove it to you right now!, if I can beat you you'll let me out into the field", Awarini chuckles again "alright I'll humor you, but if I win were doing training at 5am instead of 7". Eva gulps.

Scene 2 - EXT - FOREST CLEARING - MORNING

Awarini and Eva get into a fighting stance, facing opposite each other at a distance. Eva runs towards Awarini sword drawn jumping aiming for Awarini, this blow is quickly blocked and Eva is thrown of, she strikes again left, right, each blow is blocked by Awarini. Eva swings lunges cutting the cheek of Awarinis face much to her surprise. After doing some damage Eva begins to get cocky and lunges her sword more. As her arm lunges forward Awarini dodges grabbing her arm and throwing Eva onto her back.

Scene 3 - EXT - FOREST CLEARING - MORNING

Eva laughs half heartedly. Awarini points her sword at Eva. Eva looks shocked. "Eva you need to start taking this a little seriously, the reason why I don't let you go out into the field its because you're  lazy, you're cocky and you refuse to follow the code, if you continue to act this way you will surely be killed". Awarini bends down now at eye level with Eva. "you are a great fighter, better than all your classmates, but you need to sort that awful attitude of yours out before, I'm letting you out". Awarini bonks Eva on the head. Eva grunts patting her head. "A demon hunter must always expect the unexpected". Awarini and Eva both get of the grass a begin walking back to the clearing. Eva brushes of  dirt and grass of her skirt as she walks. Awarini walking slightly in front of Eva says " Oh and I didn't forget training's now at 5am am I correct". Eva sighs.

Backgrounds - The City

  One of the environments that's featured within the animation is the city (Can't really think of a name for it so I'll just call it the city for the time being) this is the main capital and headquarters for the academy which have smaller locations across the country. I wanted to give the city a design that showcased the modern with fantasy elements with a heavy use of stone and brick within there architecture with 21st century lamps. I also wanted to design the backstreets of this city. While many species live within the city those who don't fit within the mold are often segregated to the backstreets of the city which the academy  offer little to no protection to those who aren't human, or human like (for example elves and dwarfs).  Many rogue demons and monsters use these backstreets as a hunting ground as many don't seem to care what happens to those living within the backstreets. Finalizing character designs

Character design  I started to finalize the main character Alice's design, going over some of the earlier sketches and adding some color to get a feel on what kind of colors I want her to wear. I've started trialing colors and really like the blue and green, its very dull and meek which would fit her character perfectly. I've also trialed some hair colors and skin tones because I want her to appear frail I think I might giver her a very pale skin tone to help accentuate that. I've started working on the rough design and really like the look of it the baggy attire and kept back hair gives her the appearances of a shy goody toe shoes, in the sense that she always firmly follows the rules not one hair out of place. As the design progressed not much changed from the original except for her face which I altered taking away any of the sharpness giving it a more bubbly look and shrinking the height of her head  slightly and making sure her hair was kept tightly beneath her hea...

Storyboard

 After looking at my storyboard I've come to realize its very very long with around 100 thumbnails. When I bring this over to my book I will need to look at cutting down some of the thumbnails as there won't be enough space to fit them all within the book.  What I have decided to storyboard is one of the first cutscenes of the game. Eva tries escaping the academy for the night however is quickly caught, with her last resort being to throw herself out the window to get away from the guards chasing her, after mocking the guards from her safe spot she quickly runs towards the city eventually making her way towards the slums, the known home of the demon that's been terrorizing the city.
