Minnutu is a comic artist and illustrator. She has worked as a card designer for magic the gathering and Dota 2 card game artefact she is also currently working as an illustrator for dark horse comics. While within her comics her style uses a solid line art in her illustrative or concept work there are traces of this line art however there is more of a painterly style present with visible brushstrokes giving the works texture. While most of her work is centered around fantasy and medieval characters/environments the way she designs characters and presents them is something I want to communicate in my work. They always have a clear emotion and from their clothing and adornments we can get a definite idea on that character's status, how they’re feeling, and age. I want to be able to communicate this within my work to give an idea on what the characters are like. A good design should be able to communicate these factors.  Masahiro Ito is a well-known designer/artist who is know...

Character Design

Character Design concept Because my story is set within an isolated mansion/castle the year its set in doesn't have to much relevance to the environment however it will have an impact of the attire of characters and the tools at there disposal. I have decided to set it during the late 80's, the time period where slasher films were most were most prominent and the where the fear of night stalkers in middle class suburbia was at an all time high. This time period also means that there will be little means of communication with the outside world from the castle, no cell phones and no internet means there's very little way for the main character to contact anyone for outside help. Looking at what kind of clothing was popular during the 80's the baggy shirt and mom jean combo seemed to be all the rage, with bright colors. This was also the period where the mini skirt came into fashion however because the main character is a shy naïve girl the mini doesn't fit her chara...

Game Storyline + mood board

Project Ideas and Inspiration For my project I'm thinking about basing my game concept work around the theme of horror maybe in the style of a slasher. Some of the games that I've looked at that embody a lot of the traditional slasher formula are Clock Tower, Puppet combo and haunting ground. Throughout my work I will reference a lot of these games as many of the ideas within them translate the traditional slasher formula often seen in movies (Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Friday the 13th etc.). A tradition of the Slasher formula is the trope of the "Final girl". The final girl is a lead female character who manages to survive the killers pursuits and inevitably defeat the killer. Typically the final girl is a young women or teenage, beginning as naïve and gradually grows as a character as the deaths of those around her force her to rise up and either escape or defeat the killer through Wits rather than power. While the formula first was pointed out within fil...
