Character Descriptions

Eva

Lazy, overconfident and eager to impress. Eva attempts to find the humor in most situations however often not realizing the gravity of the situation often leaves those around her with a bitter taste in their mouths. While her skill in combat is impressive and maybe even rivals her master, her attitude towards training and her overall dependence on weapons leaves her defenseless when she's ever disarmed. Eva must learn to be humble and depend on herself rather than using the weapons to fight for her she must instead use them as an extension of herself. Her over confident nature stems from her own insecurities she wants to impress those around her, she believes she was born gifted it’s a waste of her talents  to trains as she's naturally gifted at using firearms and guns, whenever she becomes disarmed from her weapons this façade shatters as without her weapons she is nothing but a scared little kid.

Eva is constantly trying to prove herself to those around her, she wishes to be seen and plans to kill an infamous demon that even many of the senior demon hunters have failed to find yet alone kill. Sneaking out in the dead of night she wanders the city streets confident yet unprepared for what she is about to face.

 

Design choices

 Eva attends an academy/school which specializes in training its students in combat, strategy and sciences all to aid in fighting of demons that have infested the world. Because it’s a school there are uniforms, and dress codes students must abide by. The female uniform features a blouse, a pleated skirt, tights or bike shorts, combat boots, combat gloves and varies holster or backpacks. Eva of course will wear this uniform however it will be somewhat customized to reflect her personality. Her sleeves will be rolled up, a small slit/tear up the side of her pleated skirt to showcase how worn they are.

 
The Stranger

Little is known about the stranger apart from there broody appearance and customary for keeping secrets. Many of the city’s more conspiratorial residents claim the stranger is the lovechild of a demon lord and human, who ate their own mother to claim their demon birth right and achieve power unknown to humankind and demon kind alike. The academy has noted the stranger as threat however wishes them to be captured unharmed despite the number of senior hunters they have killed, believing that they may hold vital “information”, however their true intentions with the stranger are much more dubious.  The stranger is calm and collected however uses sarcasm to mock their opponents and chastise Eva’s hot-headed nature, they attempt to show little emotion as possible however when they let out a small smirk people are quick to comment on the rare occasion before the smile quickly turns back into a scowl.

 

Design choices

The stranger is a character who wishes to remain hidden and unseen in all situations, during the day they just appear as a normal civilian, however when they are ever out at night or doing a mission, they keep their face concealed. While it may seem suspicious for them to wear a mask during the night, going out past 10:00pm in the city is considered suspicious in the first place as a curfew has been set by the residents of the city. Dark and broody colours are key to help them blend into the environment but help allude to an air of mystery surrounding their background.

Plot details. 

Awirni is not Eva’s biological mother, with Eva’s true lineage largely being unknown to many of the members of the academy apart from a few of the higher ups who are prepared to keep the secret to the grave, one of those being Awirni herself. The only origin they can offer is that she was born to a fellow officer who was killed in battle and Awirini being a close friend decided to take care of her daughter. 

Eva’s true origin however is much more dubious, being the daughter of Lilith the demon king who used her will to take those demons loyal to her up onto earth, thus beginning the conflict between human and demon. For her role in the 500-year war she begins to feel guilt after meeting with a young man she meets in an occupied village. She falls in love abandoning her people and running away with the painter ashamed of her actions she lives in solace within the deep woods raising her child in secret. However, she couldn’t hide away for long as the academy has been tracking her for years for the number of lives she has claimed, upon them finding her small cottage in the clearing she offers the academy her head with no resistance if her child and husband could be spared. Lilith knows her penance can only be atoned for in death, its been along time coming and accepts death with open arms. 

The academy takes Eva, planning to use her as a weapon as she grows older. They embed a small gem in the back of her neck to weaken her powers. Her father’s memory is wiped and he is placed in a small village far from the city as many of the academy members believe he is a poor soul who has been lead astray, not recognizing what he feels for Lilith as love, because how could a human ever love a demon.
